FUTMINNA Academic Calendar 2026/2027: Key Dates and Important Academic Activities

The Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUTMINNA), has released its academic calendar for the 2026/2027 academic session, outlining key dates for student registration, lectures, matriculation, examinations, semester breaks, SIWES and consideration of academic results.

FUTMINNA Academic Calendar 2026/2027: Key Dates and Important Academic Activities

The calendar covers activities for both the first and second semesters and provides students with the dates for major academic activities throughout the session.

FUTMINNA 2026/2027 Academic Calendar

The first semester of the 2026/2027 academic session will include online registration, lectures, matriculation, orientation, e-tests, semester examinations and the first semester break.

First Semester

• October 19–November 1, 2026: Online registration for new and returning students.
• November 2–December 18, 2026: Lectures for 100–500 Level students (7 weeks).
• December 10, 2026: Matriculation ceremony for new students.
• December 17–18, 2026: Orientation for new students.
• December 19, 2026–January 2, 2027: Annual recess (2 weeks).
• January 4–23, 2027: e-Test for 100 Level and large classes (3 weeks).
• January 4–February 6, 2027: Continuation of lectures (5 weeks).
• February 1, 2027: Founder’s Day.
• February 8–27, 2027: e-Examinations for 100 Level and large classes (3 weeks).
• February 15–27, 2027: First semester examinations for 200–500 Level students (2 weeks).
• March 1–13, 2027: First semester break (2 weeks).

SIWES Schedule

The calendar also includes the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) for students in the relevant schools.

The schedule provided states that SIWES will run from March 1, 2026, to August 14, 2027, for all schools except Agriculture and SSTE students. However, the March 1, 2026 start date appears inconsistent with the 2026/2027 academic session and may require confirmation from the university.

Consideration of First Semester Results

Following the first semester examinations and break, the calendar provides dates for the consideration of students’ results:

• April 5, 2027: School Boards to consider first semester results.
• April 28, 2027: Senate to consider first semester results.

FUTMINNA Second Semester 2026/2027

The second semester is scheduled to run from Monday, March 15, to Saturday, June 26, 2027, covering 15 weeks of academic activities.

The major activities are as follows:

• March 15–May 1, 2027: Lectures for all students (7 weeks).
• May 3–22, 2027: e-Test for 100 Level and large classes (3 weeks).
• May 3–June 5, 2027: Continuation of lectures for all levels (5 weeks).
• June 7–26, 2027: e-Examinations for 100 Level and large classes (3 weeks).
• June 14–26, 2027: Second semester examinations for 200–500 Level students (2 weeks).
• June 28–August 7, 2027: Second semester break (6 weeks).
• June 28–August 7, 2027: SWEP/field trip activities (6 weeks).
• August 9, 2027: School Boards to consider second semester results.
• August 25, 2027: Senate to consider second semester results.

FUTMINNA 2027/2028 Academic Session

According to the released calendar, the 2027/2028 academic session is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 6, 2027.

Students are advised to take note of the various registration, lecture and examination periods and plan accordingly throughout the academic year.

Weekly Staff and Student Activities

The academic calendar also includes provisions for weekly staff and student activities.

Every Saturday has been designated for staff fitness exercises from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., with staff encouraged to participate.

In addition, lectures are expected to end by 2:00 p.m. every Wednesday to allow students to participate in sporting activities.

Students and staff are encouraged to follow the university’s academic schedule and observe the dates outlined for registration, lectures, examinations, breaks and other academic activities.
