BUK Warning to Content Creators Using in Their Platform Names
The management of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has cautioned content creators who operate social media pages and platforms using the University’s name to avoid publishing unverified information that could mislead the public.
According to the University, some of these platforms recently announced that certain senior academics had been promoted to the rank of Professor, even though the promotion process has not yet been completed.
BUK explained that the recommendations of the Appointments and Promotions Committee have not yet been sent to external assessors. The University emphasized that a promotion to the rank of Professor only becomes official after the external assessment process is completed and the recommendation receives approval from the University Council.
The University has therefore urged content creators to verify all BUK-related information through its official communication channels, including its verified social media accounts, official website, and the University Bulletin, before publishing.
BUK also warned that it will take appropriate action against any individual or platform found spreading false or misleading information that could damage the University’s reputation or misinform the public.
