FG Declares Tuesday August 25 a Public Holiday for Eid-ul-Mawlid.

The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, 25 August 2026, a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid, commemorating the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.
The declaration was announced by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government, according to a statement issued by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.
The Minister urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the values of compassion, humility and service, while praying for peace, unity and progress across the country.
He also encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly, with restraint and mutual respect, and assured Nigerians that the Federal Government remains committed to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security throughout the country.
