JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Results for Underage Candidates
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of candidates who participated in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as underage applicants.

JAMB Releases 2026 UTME Results for Underage Candidates
JAMB defines an underage candidate as a candidate who will not have attained the age of 16 by September 30, 2026. However, the board stressed that the release of the UTME results does not mean that all affected candidates are automatically qualified for admission into tertiary institutions.
According to JAMB, the results were released mainly to allow the underage candidates, as well as their parents and guardians, to know how they performed in the examination.

Admission Will Be Based on Exceptional Performance
JAMB explained that only underage candidates who demonstrate outstanding academic ability and sufficient maturity may be considered for admission.
Such candidates must pass a series of assessments and verification exercises before they can be admitted. Among the major requirements is a minimum UTME score of 320, as well as a minimum of 80 per cent in relevant Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) subjects, where applicable.
Candidates must also satisfy the Post-UTME requirements of their chosen institutions and undergo a final evaluation by experts before any admission decision can be made.
The board noted that these measures are necessary to identify candidates who are genuinely exceptional rather than simply admitting underage candidates because they obtained high UTME scores.

JAMB further stated that the special assessment process for exceptionally performing underage candidates is still in progress, with some verification and evaluation stages yet to be completed.
Candidates Awaiting NECO Results
The board also addressed candidates who are still awaiting their National Examinations Council (NECO) results.
JAMB said such candidates will be given the opportunity to submit their NECO results for verification once they are released. According to the board, it would be unfair to conclude the assessment process without allowing candidates awaiting their results to provide the required documents.
JAMB added that it will announce the date for the final assessment of exceptionally performing underage candidates after the release of the NECO results.
How to Check the 2026 JAMB UTME Result
