WAEC Releases 2026 GCE Results (1st Series): How to Check & Full Performance Statistics

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has officially announced the release of results for the Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates, 2026 First Series.
The examination was conducted across Nigeria from Wednesday, January 28 to Saturday, February 14, 2026. Following the examination, coordination and marking of scripts were carried out at three designated venues located in Lagos, Enugu, and Kaduna between Thursday, February 26 and Friday, March 13, 2026.
According to WAEC, 10,523 candidates registered for the examination, representing an 11.49% increase compared to the 9,438 candidates recorded in 2025. Gender distribution among candidates showed that 5,106 were male, representing 48.72%, while 5,374 were female, accounting for 51.28% of the total candidates.
Out of the total number registered, 10,480 candidates successfully sat for the examination across 166 centres nationwide.
In terms of perfromance, Adesina disclosed that a total of 3,429 candidates (32.72%) obtained credits and above in at least five subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
He noted that this performance reflects a 5.76% improvement compared to the 26.96% pass rate recorded in the 2025 first series.
Adesina also disclosed that 43 candidates with special needs participated in the examination. The council provided adequate support for 11 visually impaired candidates, four with hearing impairments, and four albinos during the conduct of the test.
Furthermore, 8,418 candidates (80.32%) have had their results fully processed, while 2,062 candidates still have some subjects pending due to errors attributed to the candidates themselves.
However, the results of 75 candidates (0.72%) have been withheld in connection with reported cases of examination malpractice.
Adesina stated that the cases are currently under investigation, and findings will be presented to the appropriate committee of the council for review. The final decisions will be communicated directly to the affected candidates.
Candidates have been advised to visit the official website within the next 12 hours to check their results and access digital copies of their certificates, which have been released alongside the results.
