The gruesome discovery left students, staff and residents of the surrounding community in shock.
According to information gathered at the scene, the deceased was neither a student nor a member of staff of the University. Preliminary findings indicate that he was a farmer who regularly cultivated crops on the farmland where his body was found.
Eyewitnesses said the body was discovered early in the morning. University officials believe the victim had arrived at the farm as part of his usual routine before he was attacked.
Although the circumstances surrounding the killing remain unclear, initial indications suggest the attackers deliberately targeted the victim before fleeing with his severed head.
The deceased’s family has been informed, and arrangements have been made for the body to be removed.
University authorities confirmed they are aware of the incident and stated that an official statement would be issued through the institution’s Information Directorate.
As of the time of filing this report, the Plateau State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement, while investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
