According to an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs, dated 19 July 2026, the directive was issued on the authority of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Chike Princewill R. Chike. The decision takes immediate effect and affects the three arms of the Students’ Union, Hall Representatives, and all other related union bodies until further notice.

Consequently, all executive members of the dissolved union have been directed to immediately hand over all institutional assets in their possession to the Dean of Student Affairs.

The items to be handed over include:

  • All union property
  • Official documents
  • Financial records
  • Keys
  • Identification materials
  • Any other items belonging to the Students’ Union

Investigation and disciplinary warning

Furthermore, the university management has directed all affected student leaders to make themselves available before an investigative panel. The executives will be required to formally account for their stewardship when invited.

The memorandum, signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. G. N. Woke, emphasised that all affected officers are expected to comply promptly. It warned that failure to comply with the directive will attract appropriate disciplinary action.
