The management of Federal University Dutse (FUD) has issued a strong warning to students over increasing breaches of the institution’s dress code, stressing that offenders will face disciplinary action and may be denied access to university facilities.

In a circular dated 31 July 2026, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Affairs, Mustapha Aliyu U. Biu, the university expressed concern over what it described as the growing disregard for its approved dress code.
According to the circular, compliance with the dress code is a requirement under the Students’ Handbook, where violations are classified as misconduct and a breach of university regulations.
The management warned that any student found in breach of the dress code will be denied access to university facilities, including lecture theatres, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, examination halls and administrative offices. Such students will also face disciplinary action in line with the university’s regulations.
The circular further directed lecturers and all members of staff not to attend to students whose mode of dressing contravenes the university’s dress code. Security personnel have also been instructed to enforce the regulations across the campus.
Copies of the notice were sent to the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Registrar, Bursar, University Librarian, Provosts, Deans, Heads of Departments, Chief Security Officer, the Students’ Union Government (SUG), and displayed on university notice boards.
The renewed enforcement reflects the university’s commitment to maintaining discipline and upholding standards of decency across the institution.
