The Public Relations Unit of Imo State University, Owerri (IMSU), hereby clarifies that a soft copy of the official press release issued on the morning of 10 August 2026, titled “NOTICE TO STUDENTS: 2025/2026 SECOND SEMESTER EXAMINATIONS HAVE COMMENCED”, has been altered.

The doctored version now bears the false title “NOTICE TO STUDENTS: 2025/2026 INDEFINITE INDUSTRIAL STRIKE ACTION.”

The fraudulent notice contains false claims that all academic activities have been suspended for five months. This is false. The official position of the University remains as stated in the authentic press release issued on 10 August 2026.

Members of the public are therefore advised to:

  • Ignore the fake press release and any instructions contained therein.
  • Report any further circulation of the fraudulent notice to the Public Relations Unit immediately.

The University is currently investigating the source of the doctored document and will take appropriate action. Anyone who acts on the false information does so at their own risk.

FOR CLARITY, HERE IS THE AUTHENTIC INFORMATION:
