The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Nnamdi Azikiwe University (NAU) Branch, has suspended its withdrawal of services and directed all members to return to their academic and administrative responsibilities with immediate effect.

The decision follows the full payment of the August 2026 salary to all members of the union.

In a statement issued on September 11, 2026, the ASUU-NAU Branch Executive recalled that the union had earlier resolved to withdraw its services over the non-payment of members’ full August salary.

The action followed a resolution reached at the union’s Congress and a formal notice issued on September 7, 2026.

ASUU Members Directed to Resume Duties

Following confirmation that the outstanding salary has now been fully paid, the union announced the immediate suspension of the withdrawal of services, effective Friday, September 11, 2026.

All ASUU-NAU members have consequently been instructed to resume their normal duties. These include:

• Teaching and lecturing
• Student supervision
• Marking and assessment
• Committee meetings
• Submission of students’ results
• Other academic and administrative responsibilities

Union Commends Members

The branch leadership praised its members for demonstrating unity, discipline, and determination throughout the period of the industrial action.

According to the union, the collective resolve and solidarity of members contributed to achieving a positive outcome.

ASUU-NAU also urged members to remain attentive to further developments and continue monitoring official communication from the union.

The branch noted that any subsequent updates would be communicated through its official platforms.
