The Federal Ministry of Education has reaffirmed that all Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.

The Ministry assured students, parents, guardians and other stakeholders that adequate arrangements have been put in place to ensure a safe, orderly and smooth commencement of the new academic session.
Federal Government Assures Parents of Students’ Safety
The Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, said the safety and welfare of students and staff remain a major priority of the Federal Government.
According to the Minister, relevant security agencies have been notified of the resumption plans and are maintaining increased vigilance around Federal Unity Colleges and their surrounding areas.
He explained that the coordinated security measures are intended to protect students, staff and members of the wider school communities as academic activities resume nationwide.
Parents Urged to Prepare for Resumption
Dr. Alausa called on parents and guardians to remain calm and rely only on information released through official channels.
He encouraged them to proceed with their preparations and ensure that their children and wards return to their respective Federal Unity Colleges on Monday, September 14, 2026.
School authorities have also been directed to work closely with security agencies and other relevant authorities to ensure a peaceful and well-coordinated resumption.
Ministry Calls for Collective Responsibility
The Minister urged students, teachers, parents, school administrators and other stakeholders to play their part in maintaining a safe, peaceful and supportive learning environment.
He stressed that protecting students and promoting their wellbeing is a shared responsibility that requires the cooperation of everyone within the school community.
The Federal Ministry of Education said it will continue to monitor developments and work with relevant authorities to address any emerging concerns and ensure that academic activities proceed safely in all Federal Unity Colleges.

The Ministry further reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education sector and ensuring that children have access to quality education in a secure and conducive environment.
It said the commitment aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places strong emphasis on education and human capital development as key drivers of sustainable national growth.
The Federal Ministry of Education once again assured students, parents, guardians, teachers and the general public that the necessary measures are in place for a safe, peaceful and successful resumption across all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.
