UNIABUJA Postgraduate Admission form 2026/2027

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the University of Abuja’s postgraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session.

General Entry Requirements

All applicants must possess at least five (5) credit passes in relevant O’Level subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB.

Programme-specific Requirements

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

A Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Third Class, or
A Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Lower Credit.

Master’s Degree (MSc, MA, MEd, etc.)

A relevant Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Lower Division).
Some specialised programmes, such as Financial Economics, require a minimum CGPA of 3.00.

Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

A relevant Master’s degree with a minimum weighted average of 60% (Grade B) or a CGPA of 3.50.
Applicants must also submit a research proposal of at least 500 words.

Specialised Programmes Professional and health-related programmes, including the Master of Public Health (MPH), require relevant professional qualifications (such as MBBS or BDS) and, where applicable, relevant clinical experience.

All applicants must provide evidence of completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) or present a valid Certificate of Exemption or Exclusion.

Application Procedure

Visit the University of Abuja Postgraduate Portal at https://portal.uniabuja.edu.ng/apply_now.php to begin your application.
Generate and pay the non-refundable application fee of ₦20,500 via REMITA through the application portal.
Complete the Transcript Request Form (Form A2) via the portal and ensure that your official academic transcripts are sent to the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, or by email to SPGS@uniabuja.edu.ng.

Additional Requirements for Animal Science Programmes

PhD in Animal Science

Applicants must possess five (5) O’Level credits in Mathematics, English Language, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Geography or Economics, and at least a pass in Physics.

Candidates must also:

Hold an MSc in Animal Science from the University of Abuja or another recognised institution with a minimum weighted average of 60% or a CGPA of 3.50.
Demonstrate satisfactory research potential.

Duration

Minimum: Three academic sessions (six semesters)
Maximum: Five academic sessions (10 semesters)

MSc in Animal Science

Applicants must possess the required O’Level qualifications and hold any of the following:

A minimum of Second Class Honours in Animal Science or a B.Agric in Animal Science, Animal Production, or Animal Production and Health from a recognised institution.
A Third Class degree in Animal Science with at least five years of relevant post-qualification experience.
Candidates with a Third Class degree must also possess a Postgraduate Diploma in Animal Science or a related field.

Duration

Minimum: Two academic sessions (four semesters)
Maximum: Three academic sessions (six semesters)

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in Animal Science

Applicants must possess the required O’Level qualifications and either:

An HND in Animal Science with at least an Upper Credit, or
A Third Class Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from a recognised institution.

Duration

Minimum: One academic session (two semesters)
Maximum: Two academic sessions (four semesters)

Nursing Programmes

In addition to the general entry requirements:

Applicants must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Candidates must be duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
Applicants with an Upper Credit in a relevant Postgraduate Diploma may also be considered.
