University of Uyo Warns Against Unauthorized Use of Its Name and Logo

The warning was issued in a statement by the University’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), following reports of individuals and groups creating social media pages to publicize events and activities without obtaining approval from the institution.
According to the university, such unauthorized platforms could damage its corporate image and cause confusion regarding events officially approved and organized by the institution.
Management has therefore urged students and other members of the university community to avoid making representations or announcements on behalf of UNIUYO without the required authorization.
The university stated that anyone planning an activity involving its name, logo, or corporate identity must obtain the necessary approval beforehand.
It further warned that violators would face disciplinary action in line with the university’s regulations.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Christopher N. Ekong, expressed concern over the unauthorized activities and urged members of the public to remain vigilant.
