UNIZIK bans final year sign out activities on campus

The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has announced an immediate ban on all forms of orchestration, celebration, and “signing-out” activities by final-year students within the University’s campuses and premises.

According to the University, the decision follows recurring incidents of disorder, violence, vandalism, and disruption of academic and administrative activities associated with such celebrations.

An internal memo signed by the Registrar, Dr. Chinenye Gloria Okeke, stated that the University is also concerned about the infiltration of unauthorized persons during these events, which poses a significant threat to the safety and security of students, staff, visitors, and University property.

The management emphasized that, in line with its responsibility to maintain order, protect lives, and safeguard property, such activities are considered unacceptable and constitute a violation of the University’s rules and regulations.

The University warned that any student found violating the directive will face disciplinary action in accordance with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook, including possible suspension or expulsion. External individuals involved in the prohibited activities may also be arrested and prosecuted in line with applicable laws and regulations.

The management further called on Deans, Heads of Departments, Academic Advisers, the Students’ Union Government (SUG), and all relevant stakeholders to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
