Nancy Agyeman Duah, the daughter of a mechanic and a sachet-water seller, has graduated from Ho Technical University as the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Class of 2025.

She earned a Bachelor of Technology in Hospitality Management with an impressive cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.96 out of 4.0, the highest recorded at the university.

Nancy grew up in Abuakwa in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, where her father worked as a mechanic and her mother sold sachet water to support the family. Despite their modest income, her parents remained determined to provide their children with a good education and continued to support Nancy throughout her academic journey.

However, the financial pressure increased when Nancy entered university. Tuition fees and other academic expenses became difficult for her parents to manage, particularly as they grew older and had limited financial resources.

Despite the challenges, her parents encouraged her to remain focused on her studies and assured her that they would continue doing their best to support her.

Nancy enrolled at Ho Technical University to study Hospitality Management and remained committed to her education despite the difficulties she faced. Her determination, discipline and consistent effort eventually paid off, as she achieved the highest academic performance among students at the institution.

She graduated in November 2025 as the university’s best graduating student, turning years of sacrifice and hard work into a remarkable academic achievement.

Her success became a major source of pride for her parents, whose livelihoods depended on mechanic work and the sale of sachet water. Nancy’s achievement also reflects her determination to succeed despite coming from a modest background.

Rather than allowing her family’s financial circumstances to limit her ambitions, she remained focused on her studies and worked towards achieving her academic goals.

After graduation, Nancy ventured into the beauty industry, offering hair-braiding and lash services while preparing for her next career goal. She hopes to transition into law and build a successful career beyond her first degree.

Nancy hopes her story will inspire other young people who face financial difficulties or challenging circumstances while pursuing their education. Her journey demonstrates how determination, hard work and family support can help students overcome obstacles and achieve outstanding academic success.
