AAUA give update regarding ongoing strike by ASUU

The Management of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), has assured students that the ongoing industrial action by the University’s academic staff is being addressed by the Ondo State Government and is expected to be resolved soon.

The Management also urged students to seek clarification from the University before making public statements on issues affecting the institution.

This was contained in a statement issued in response to a reported 72-hour ultimatum allegedly given to the State Government by the Students’ Union Executive Council, demanding an end to the ongoing strike by the academic staff.

In a press statement signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr Sola Imoru, the University Management explained that the strike is already being addressed through a special intervention fund approved by the Ondo State Government, which is currently being processed for release.

According to the statement, “Management considers the ultimatum unnecessary, as the Governor of Ondo State and Visitor to the University, His Excellency, Hon. (Dr) Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has already approved a special intervention fund to enable the University to meet its financial obligations.

This development was duly discussed with the leadership of the Students’ Union.

Management therefore appeals to all students to remain calm and exercise patience while the payment process initiated by the Visitor is being finalised.”

The statement further noted: “The University Management encourages the leadership of the Students’ Union to always seek clarification on matters affecting the University before making public pronouncements.

Management remains committed to constructive engagement and believes that dialogue is the most effective means of resolving issues of mutual concern.

Adekunle Ajasin University remains steadfast in its commitment to the principles of good governance, transparency and sustained engagement with all stakeholders.”
