Federal Poly Nasarawa bans sign-out ceremony
The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa has reaffirmed its total ban on all “sign-out” graduation celebrations, warning that any student who breaches the directive will face severe disciplinary action.

In a circular dated 20 July 2026, and signed by the Deputy Registrar (Students Affairs), Barka Yakubu, the Polytechnic stated that the prohibition remains in full effect and must be strictly observed by all graduating students.
Key Directives
- Mandatory Undertaking: All graduating students must sign an undertaking at their respective Head of Department (HOD) offices, acknowledging the ban and the penalties for violating it, including the cancellation of their final examinations.
- Ban on Sign-Out Activities: All forms of “sign-out” celebrations, regardless of the name they are given, are prohibited. The spraying of naira notes or coins within or outside the campus is also forbidden. Offenders may be required to repeat the academic session or face expulsion.
- Alcohol and Illicit Drugs: The possession, consumption or sale of alcoholic drinks, illicit drugs or any other intoxicating substances on the Polytechnic premises will attract immediate expulsion.
- Weapons: Any student found in possession of, or involved in the sale of, firearms or other dangerous weapons within or outside the campus will be expelled.
- Student Conduct: Any immoral, indecent or disrespectful behaviour capable of bringing the Polytechnic into disrepute will attract a minimum penalty of rustication for one academic session or outright expulsion.
- Examination Compliance: Departments and examination invigilators have been directed to query any student who enters an examination hall wearing “sign-out” regalia.
- Occult Practices: The practice of sorcery, magic, juju or any related activity under the guise of “signing out” is strictly prohibited and will result in expulsion.
The Polytechnic stated that the directive is for strict compliance. Copies of the circular have been forwarded to the Rector, Deputy Rectors, Deans, Heads of Department, the Chief Security Officer and the President of the Students’ Union Government to ensure full enforcement across the institution.
