IBBUL senate expels a 400 level student over examination misconduct

The decision was made during the 109th Regular Meeting of the University Senate after members considered a report submitted by the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct.
The committee, chaired by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Aliyu Bello Mohammed, investigated the case involving Alfa Hussaini, a History and International Studies student in the Faculty of Arts.
According to the committee’s report, dated July 22, 2026, the student was allegedly found in possession of a handwritten note containing materials relevant to the Islamic Interpretation of History (ISS 409) examination while taking the test.
The report stated that the student admitted bringing the handwritten material into the examination hall.
The committee further concluded that the material belonged to the student, that its contents were directly relevant to the examination, and that the student allegedly refused to complete the University’s examination misconduct form when requested by the invigilators. It also noted that the student’s statement of results had already been issued.
Citing the provisions of the 2024 edition of the IBB University Student Handbook, the committee determined that both offenses.possessing unauthorized examination materials relevant to the examination and refusing to complete the examination misconduct form carry the penalty of expulsion.
Following its deliberations, the Senate approved the committee’s recommendation and ordered the student’s expulsion from the University.
The Senate also directed that the statement of results previously issued to the student be retrieved.
