Lady Cries Out Over Reported Abduction of NYSC Members Travelling from Bayelsa to Abuja

A Nigerian woman has appealed for urgent assistance after her sister, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was reportedly abducted alongside other corps members while travelling from Bayelsa State to Abuja.

The woman raised the alarm in a video shared on X, explaining that her sister had travelled to Bayelsa for the compulsory three-week NYSC orientation programme before being posted to Niger State for her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA).

According to her account, the affected corps members were travelling back to Abuja, where they intended to spend the night before proceeding to their respective PPAs. She alleged that the vehicle conveying them was attacked by suspected kidnappers during the journey. The driver was reportedly killed, while the corps members were taken away.

The distressed woman said the family had yet to receive any reassuring information regarding her sister’s whereabouts. She therefore appealed to the government, NYSC authorities, security agencies and members of the public to support efforts to secure the release of the abducted corps members.

She added that the family had recently lost their mother, making the incident even more difficult to bear.

“I don’t want to lose my sister. She only went to serve her country. I have reached out to NYSC, and they keep telling us that the Air Force are working. Please, Nigerians, help us,” she pleaded.

She called on the relevant authorities to intensify search and rescue efforts and ensure the safe return of the affected corps members to their families.

The reported incident has generated widespread concern online, with Nigerians urging the authorities to take immediate action to secure the release of those reportedly abducted.
