LASU Opens 2026/2027 Pre-Degree Admission Application
Lagos State University (LASU) has commenced the sale of application forms for admission into its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) Programme for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.
The one-year full-time programme will run from October 2026 to September 2027 and is designed to prepare candidates who have deficiencies in their O’Level results for future admission into the University’s undergraduate programmes. It also provides intensive coaching for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The programme will be held at the LASU Epe Campus, and all admitted candidates will be required to reside in the University’s hostels throughout the duration of the programme.
Why Choose LASU Pre-Degree?
The Pre-Degree Programme offers candidates a structured pathway into LASU. Unlike regular UTME applicants who compete through the general admission process, successful PDS candidates who meet the University’s admission requirements can be considered for admission through the University’s Pre-Degree admission quota.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must possess at least three credit passes in relevant subjects, including any of the following: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Government, Economics, Literature in English, Christian Religious Studies (CRS), Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) or Accounting. The credits must be obtained in WAEC, NECO or GCE in not more than two sittings.
Eligible candidates will be invited to sit a qualifying examination covering relevant subjects.
Progression to 100 Level
To qualify for admission into a 100-level degree programme, candidates must:
- Successfully complete the Pre-Degree Programme.
- Sit the UTME and attain the minimum JAMB cut-off mark approved by LASU.
- Participate in and satisfy the University’s admission screening requirements.
- Obtain the required O’Level credits in all relevant subjects before admission.
Successful candidates may be considered for admission into degree programmes across the University’s faculties, including Engineering, Science, Agriculture, Education, Law, Social Sciences, Management Sciences, Transport, Mass Communication, Nursing, Dentistry and the College of Medicine.
Strong Academic Performance
According to the University, the 2026 Pre-Degree cohort recorded an impressive performance in the UTME despite the generally low national results. Around 90 per cent of the students scored 200 and above, while several candidates achieved scores exceeding 300.

Closing Date
Applications will close six weeks from the date of publication of the admission notice.7
Qualifying Examina tion
The date for the qualifying examination and interview will be announced in due course.
