UNICAL Suspends MBBS MLS & Dentistry for 2026/27

The University of Calabar (UNICAL) has informed prospective candidates and the general public that it will not admit students into the following programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session:

• Medicine and Surgery (MBBS)
• Medical Laboratory Science (MLS)
• Dentistry

Candidates who selected the University of Calabar as their preferred institution are advised to urgently visit the nearest JAMB office to process a change of institution.

According to the Registrar, Dr Mrs Chukwuka I. Icha, candidates should note that the window for changing their institution will close at the end of July.

The Registrar further clarified that the University of Calabar is not the only institution affected by this directive, but is one of four universities impacted.

Prospective candidates and members of the general public are also advised to disregard unverified information circulating on social media regarding the matter and rely only on official announcements from the university.
