This is to inform all undergraduate students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) that the application and allocation process for hostel accommodation for the 2026/2027 academic session will commence on Monday, 17 August 2026.
UNILAG Opens Hostel Application & Allocation Process
To ensure a transparent and orderly exercise, all students are advised to carefully read and comply with the timeline, guidelines and eligibility criteria outlined below.
Timeline and Key Dates
- Application Portal Opens: Monday, 17 August 2026.
- Application Portal Closes: Monday, 31 August 2026, at 11:59 p.m.
- Balloting Date: The date for the online balloting exercise will be announced by the Dean of Student Affairs after the application period has closed.
Guidelines and General Eligibility Criteria
- Allocation of university bed spaces will be conducted strictly through an online balloting process.
- Only students who have fully paid their school fees and completed their course registration for the 2025/2026 academic session are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must be within the approved duration of their respective academic programmes.
- Balloting is not automatic. Only students who submit an online application within the application period will be eligible to participate in the balloting exercise.
- All categories of students must participate in this application process to be considered for hostel accommodation, including biological children of staff, sports scholars and students living with disabilities.
- The following categories of studentsUNILAG Opens Hostel Application & Allocation Process are not eligible to apply for or be allocated university hostel accommodation:
- Final-year students.
- Students currently appearing before a disciplinary panel or those found guilty of offences such as examination malpractice, sexual harassment or any other form of misconduct.
- Students currently serving a term of rustication.
- Expectant (pregnant) and nursing mothers.
- Students residing, or intending to reside, in the University’s private/partnership hostels, namely El-Kanemi Hostel, Gbajabiamila Hostel and UNILAG Women Society Hostel.
