UNILAG Student Peter Fagbola Wins Huawei ICT Contest
Peter A. Fagbola, a student at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), has won the Huawei Global ICT Competition held in Shenzhen, China
Fagbola, a Systems Engineering student in UNILAG’s Faculty of Engineering and a member of the ABS-CITS Huawei Academy, represented Nigeria as part of Team Nigeria Cloud. The team emerged global champions after outperforming competitors from countries around the world.
As part of their victory, Team Nigeria Cloud received a cash prize of ₦3.5 million.
Fagbola’s journey to the global stage began in Nigeria, where he emerged as the overall winner in the Cloud and Artificial Intelligence Track while representing UNILAG. He then advanced to the Southern Africa Regional Competition with his teammates, where they also claimed first place to qualify for the global finals in China.
At the finals in Shenzhen, Team Nigeria Cloud delivered another outstanding performance to secure the overall championship.
UNILAG described Fagbola’s achievement as a testament to his talent, dedication, and the university’s commitment to producing globally competitive graduates through quality training and mentorship.
Following the victory, Fagbola and the other winners were honored at the Huawei Education Summit in Abuja, where they were recognized for their achievement.
UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, congratulated Fagbola on behalf of the university community and wished him continued success in his academic and professional career.
