The University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has prohibited final-year students from engaging in sign-out activities across its campuses.

The directive was contained in an internal memorandum dated 26 August 2026 and signed by the University Registrar, Mrs Blossom E. Okorie.

According to the memorandum, the decision was prompted by concerns over activities organised by students after completing their final examinations, which the university said could be inconsistent with the provisions of the Matriculation Pledge.

The university stated that all forms of sign-out activities are strictly prohibited within its campuses. Final-year students were also warned against organising, participating in, facilitating or otherwise engaging in sign-out-related activities or gatherings on university premises.

The institution further warned that any student or group found contravening the directive would be subject to severe disciplinary measures.

The university urged students to comply fully with the directive and contribute to maintaining a peaceful, orderly and conducive environment for academic activities.

The memorandum, referenced UU/REG/121/VOL.V/182, was issued to the university community.
