According to the University Desk Officer for NELFUND, the funds intended for the university and eligible student beneficiaries were successfully disbursed and credited to the university’s dormant account maintained with the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF).

However, the university explained that administrative and banking procedures have delayed access to the funds and the commencement of payments to eligible beneficiaries.
The Bursar travelled to Abuja to begin the process of linking the dormant account to the university’s payment dashboard. Although the account-linking process was completed, the funds could not immediately be located or accessed through the dashboard.
Further checks showed that the account also requires activation with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) before the funds can be accessed and payment transactions processed. The university said it is currently working with the relevant authorities to complete the activation process.
Management has therefore urged affected students to remain calm and patient while the outstanding procedures are being resolved.
The university also dismissed claims that the funds are missing or have been diverted by the Vice-Chancellor, Bursar or any other university official. It explained that the delay is solely linked to the pending account activation and other administrative processes involving the relevant government financial institutions.
Students have been advised to disregard rumours and unverified information regarding the disbursement and rely only on official updates from the university.
Management assured affected students that it remains committed to ensuring that the funds are properly applied for the benefit of the intended beneficiaries and expressed appreciation for their patience and understanding.
