Melajoom Opens 2026 Tertiary Scholarship for Owo
The Melajoom Foundation has announced the opening of applications for its 2026 Tertiary Scholarship Programme. The initiative is designed to provide vital financial support to undergraduate students from Owo Local Government Area who demonstrate strong academic potential but face financial barriers to pursuing higher education.
The Foundation remains committed to empowering communities through education. By supporting the academic aspirations of young people in Owo, the scholarship programme seeks to contribute to the area’s long-term social and economic development.
Speaking on the initiative, a representative of the Foundation said:
“Education is a powerful catalyst for individual and community transformation. Our scholarship programme is designed not only to ease financial burdens but also to recognise the potential of our students and inspire them to strive for excellence.”
Eligibility and Scholarship Awards
The scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in accredited Nigerian universities, polytechnics and colleges of education. Applicants must be indigenes of Owo Local Government Area and provide a valid Certificate of Local Government of Origin.
Scholarship awards are as follows:
- University students: Up to ₦250,000
- Polytechnic and College of Education students: Up to ₦125,000
Academic Requirements
Applicants must meet the following academic requirements:
- 100-level students (Freshers): A minimum JAMB score of 250
- 200-level students and above: A minimum CGPA of 3.5
Final-year students are also eligible to apply. Candidates currently benefiting from another scholarship or bursary may still apply but must declare this on the application form.
Required Documents
Applicants must submit the following:
- Certificate of Local Government of Origin
- Reference letter from the Owo Local Government Area Office (issued within the last 24 months)
- An original academic goals essay
Essay Topics
100-level applicants (maximum 200 words): Explain why you chose your course of study and how you intend to use your degree to make a positive impact in your community or professional field.
200-level applicants and above (maximum 300 words): Reflect on your most significant academic achievement or challenge and explain how you have maintained your academic performance.

Important Information
The Melajoom Foundation operates a strict zero-tolerance policy on plagiarism and the use of AI-generated content in scholarship essays. Any application found to contain plagiarised, AI-generated, false or misleading information will be disqualified.
Applicants should also note that the online application must be completed in one sitting, as the application form does not allow users to save their progress and return later.
